I’ve been “no poo” for about 2 years now and find it works great. My hair is shiny and wavier than it used to be and the new growth (post no poo’) seems fine. I wash once a week in winter and about twice a week in summer. I can get by with just a rinse midweek if I am in a hurry. I do find that a COLD rinse at the end of the washing/rinsing session is key to keeping my hair manageable. Without it I get more tangles and more breakage.
